Mold Mitigation

Mold mitigation aims at stopping mold growth before it starts.

Mold can usually be detected by smell through the odor it produces. Even when damage is superficial, it is still visible. Infestation shows through:

Black mold

Mildew

Fungus

Once it is detected, mold remediation begins in the house or rooms where mold damage is suspected. When behind walls, mold may be difficult to detect, but the odor can be sensed even when the mold is not visible.

Air Care can be there for you right after you call. If you don’t act quickly, mold will spread and grow. The faster we can get to you; the easier isolating and cleaning goes. We are cleanup and water removal specialists, and when water leaks or floods cause damage, we’re ready to take care of you. Not addressing an issue with mold can cause other health effects, as well.

All our products are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty and have a two-year warranty of “No Mold Return.” To learn more, contact us today!

How does Air Care asses Mold Damage?

First, an assessment needs to be made to record the extent of mold contamination. Next, a mold mitigation and remediation plan is made. The mold growth and extent of damage are documented. Only a piece of it may be visible at first, but sometimes the affected area cannot be seen. Airborne mold can spread very quickly, and if the issue is not addressed immediately, costs can soar.

Almost all mold growth is the result of water or other types of moisture. As the mold mitigation process begins, detecting the problem in order to plan possible fixes is needed. When the issue is found, mold growth can be predicted behind walls, air ducts,  or in other non-visible locations. Depending on the severity of the mold, relocation could be necessary.

The mold area needs to be isolated since it is contaminated. Mold can be disturbed and carried through the air to our clothes and pets, caution needs to be taken. Large air vacuums should be brought in to filter the air as it is required. Antimicrobials and antifungals are sometimes also used to disinfect the air.

Once the source of the mold is found, it should quickly be removed. Any additional moisture can contribute to the growth of mold. Preventing the spread of black mold, mildew, dry rot, and fungus should be prioritized. All affected areas should be scrubbed and wiped, including HVAC systems, to prevent spores from growing.

Finally, deodorization can take place. Mold has a pungent aroma and can be very unpleasant. Dust suppression and cleaning must take place. Then deodorization can occur using fogging equipment.

Depending on the mold damage level, the affected area may need minor or major restoration. Major restoration is usually needed for commercial mold damage.
